Brothers Paul Jr. and Harry knew the score when they took over the family business from their father two years ago: Only 20-30 percent of family businesses survive to the second generation. Yet, after more than 20 years of watching Paul Sr. provide for their family, they knew they had to succeed. Since taking over, the brothers have doubled the firm's customer base and tripled its number of employees to nine, all while focusing on safety to result in zero accidents and injuries.

The firm gives 100 gallons of free gas every year to a randomly selected customer, and works with fuel assistance programs at Worcester Community Action Council and South Middlesex Opportunity Council.
