Worcester’s restaurant scene continues to expand, with Lock 50 Restaurant and Café opening in the city’s Canal District over the weekend.
The restaurant located at 50 Water Street is operated by the father-son duo of Ed and Sean Russo with Tim Russo, formally of Volturno serving as executive chef. The café will be open every day serving breakfast and lunch, as well as small plates and drinks in the evenings. The style is described by the owners as “New American” cuisine.
The location has housed many different businesses over the years, but Ed Russo purchased the building in 2015 and undertook extensive renovations.
“We believe Lock 50 will become a true piece of the fabric and a cornerstone in this neighborhood,” he said. “We went to great lengths to restore many of the building’s original exterior design features, which date back to the early 1900’s, while adding the modern and contemporary features needed to operate a state-of-the-art restaurant and café.”
The main dining room is open Tuesday through Sunday and has a full menu of small plates, shareable dishes, entrees and nightly specials.
Lock 50 represents just the latest in the changing Worcester restaurant landscape, with Shiraz closing, Livia's Dish opening a new location, deadhorse hill restaurant opening and Niche Hospitality expanding The Fix in a new location.
