The upscale deadhorse hill restaurant and café will open in downtown Worcester Friday, featuring refined dishes and drinks.
The new restaurant at 281 Main St. will feature small plates and balanced cocktails, according to a release. The restaurant and café will lean on executive chef Jared Forman’s past experience and passion for American food with globally-inspired components.
Opening a restaurant in Worcester is a way to not only escape the saturated landscape of Boston's restaurant scene, according to Jared Forman the executive chef and co-owner of the restaurant, but also tap into the ongoing development in Worcester.
"I love the space we're in, the history of the space we're in. Plus, we can be right downtown on Main Street, and just ten minutes away, you have beautiful green spaces for foraging, farming, and more," he said in a statement. "You can see how the city is putting in a lot of effort to revitalize itself. It's affordable and you can do a lot with the spaces provided.”
The menu will include starters such as southern fried chicken thighs with honey & hot sauce and rigatoni with lamb shoulder as well as rotating entrees like a 36 oz. rib-eye steak. Desserts range from daily baked cookies and sourdough brioche donuts to the more decadent buttermilk pie and chocolate cake. A full range of cocktails will be available along with a rotating selection of craft beer.
The announcement comes as other restaurant changes impact the city, including the closing of Shiraz and the opening of a new location for the Fix Burger Bar.
Hours for dinner at deadhorse hill will be Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. The restaurant will also be open during the day as a café from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday where it feature pastries, sandwiches, snacks, and a selection of coffees and teas.
The restaurant is being run by industry veterans Forman and Sean Woods, along with their business partner Albert LaValley.
