Boston Heart Diagnostics, a cardiovascular diagnostics company, is a favorite Framingham success story. Local officials tout it as an example of a small company that's been able to successfully expand its footprint and workforce in town, and they're proud to have liaised with Susan Hertzberg on those efforts.
This year, the company added 35,000 square feet to its Framingham laboratory and administrative offices to accommodate 80 new employees it planned to hire. The expansion was announced in March, three months after Eurofins Scientific of Luxembourg said it would buy Boston Heart for $140 million.
Despite the takeover, Hertzberg said it would be business-as-usual for Boston Heart, so the announced expansion after was reassuring to local officials. Hertzberg, an industry veteran, said MetroWest's natural attributes -- such as a qualified workforce and good schools, along with the town's new streamlined approach to permitting -- have made her very bullish on the area.
No doubt she's the kind of cheerleader that economic development leaders hope will stick around.
