Kevin Meehan, owner of a sprawling car dealership in bucolic Mendon, two years ago made a $5-million donation in his family's name to help fund a $54-million expansion at Milford Regional Medical Center, where he served several years as a board member.
The gift kicked off a successful fundraising campaign to support construction of the hospital's new emergency department, intensive care unit and medical surgical wing, named The Meehan Family Pavilion. It opened this fall. Meehan declined to be interviewed about his decision to donate the handsome sum, preferring to keep a low profile.
Meanwhile, Meehan stays busy running his business, Imperial Cars, part of a large retail plaza in Mendon that he owns. Meehan has traditionally opened the grounds of his Millis estate during the month of December, letting the public view the expansive display of Christmas lights and festive holiday displays from their cars. The display is reportedly on hiatus this year but may reopen in the future.
