John Prosser knows manufacturing inside and out. He has used his power and influence to help push Seven Hills Foundation to new heights.
Since 2010, Prosser has been board chair for the highly successful nonprofit, which offers a continuum of support and services to 30,000 individuals with disabilities and life challenges through 11 affiliates at 180 locations. Perennially one of the largest nonprofits in the region, Seven Hills was named one of the Top Workplaces in Central Massachusetts by the Worcester Business Journal in 2012.
Seven Hills has expanded its reach beyond Massachusetts, acquiring a Rhode Island organization. It also stepped up its Bay State offerings with, among other things, the $1.9-million purchase of a Worcester facility for a second location.
Prosser was also a long-term board member at Becker College and has even served as interim president there.
Prosser's extensive manufacturing background includes a stint as CFO of Smith & Wesson. Subsequently, he had been part owner and operator of several local machine-tool companies. In higher education, he added, the focus has to be on “how well you utilize your people resources.”
