Career highlights:Working at Clinton Hospital, I’ve enjoyed expanding the awareness of the hospital to outlying communities like Holden and Princeton.
I’m in the midst of what is probably the biggest highlight of my career: marketing the grand opening of Clinton Hospital’s emergency department. This has been such an amazing experience to see the building of our new emergency department — from groundbreaking to ribbon cutting —and sharing our excitement with our community and colleagues.
Community involvement: Having two children, ages 9 and 11, I’m a member of the Dr. Leroy E. Mayo Elementary School PTA and this year, I headed the fifth-grade class yearbook committee. I am a classroom volunteer and served a two-year term on the school improvement council. I’m a former Wachusett Pop Warner cheerleading coach, and most recently, I helped Holden’s Gale Free Public Library celebrate its 125th birthday by baking one of 125 birthday cakes.
Biggest success: My biggest success has been accepting the role of marketing manager at Clinton Hospital. As a returning member of UMass Memorial’s marketing and communications department, I was very happy to work alongside such creative, caring colleagues again. And with such a small employee base, the camaraderie at Clinton Hospital is outstanding; everyone truly works together to put patients first and deliver a first-class experience.
Biggest challenge: The biggest challenge I face in my role is sharing all of the great work happening at Clinton Hospital with our community in only 20 hours per week. I am a part-time employee, but it is not just a part-time job; rather it’s a wonderfully important part of my life.
Mentors: One of my best mentors is Sheila Daly, president and CEO of Clinton Hospital. The knowledge I’ve gained by working with her is invaluable. Sheila is not only a brilliant businessperson who has wonderful vision and sharp instincts, she also has the art of management down to a science and affords her employees respect, gratitude and balance. Another notable mentor is Catherine Murray, director of marketing and communications at UMass Memorial Medical Center when I was hired there in 1999. She taught me that nothing is insurmountable and quality is key.
Hidden talents: Other than having two children on the same day two years apart (a talent even I didn’t know I possessed), I can also name all 50 states in alphabetical order in less than one minute!
