Career highlights: My first sale. It took me almost 10 years to get into sales and I wouldn't change the path in any way. I wanted to understand the insurance industry from the first step all the way to the last. Managing a book of business and keeping my clients happy day in and day out for that many years has helped me understand what a business's needs are and how they can be met with the help of a solid insurance agent and his/her team.
Community involvement: I serve on the board of Women of Means; in the Quincy Millennials group for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce; the annual golf fundraiser committee for MetroWest Chamber of Commerce; the advisory board for Commonwealth Compact; and on the development committee for Jane Doe Inc. I’m also a member of Quincy Ward 4 Neighborhood Association; a co-chair for United Way of Tri County Emerging Leaders Group; a member of ALPFA Boston; and a main sponsor of Charles River Rotary Scoopapalooza 2013.
Biggest success: I came to this country at the age of 4 with nothing. All I had was my mom and my two older sisters. Now, 26 years later, I'm marrying my best friend, we are all successful professionals, and our family continues to grow. There are kids running around, nieces and nephews acing math tests, and seeing the smile on my mom’s face is the best part. We are living the American dream.
Biggest challenge: I try to help anyone and everyone. All they have to do is ask. This happens in my personal life as much as it happens in my work life and most of the time you can't tell one from the other. If a nonprofit needs help fundraising, I'm there; if the chamber needs volunteers at an event, I'm there, and if a client calls me in the middle of the night with a claim, I wake up and go.
Mentors: My mom and my sisters. They dealt with me from a young age, and if there was ever an obstacle in my path, they were sure to say "You got this." I also have chosen certain key figures around me that I wanted to be like: Brian Mack (Lockton, Washington, D.C.), Michael Cauley (HWP Insurance, Washington, D.C,), and my future father-in-law, Kevin Darcy (vice president of sales, Sentry Auto Group).
Hidden talents: I love Olympic weightlifting and I played the cello as a kid.
